Meeting with the Spanish Ambassador to Croatia on improving Croatian-Spanish scientific cooperation held at the Institute Pilar; 23/04/2026
At the initiative of Caroline Horstein Tomić, PhD, a meeting was held on April 23, 2026 at the Pilar Institute with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Croatia, H. E. José Ramón García-Hernández, PhD. In addition to the initiator of the meeting, the Director of the Institute, Prof. Željko Holjevac, PhD, andRebeka Mesarić Žabčić, PhD, project leader of the DinamiRH project, also participated

The meeting took place in an exceptionally constructive and stimulating atmosphere, with special emphasis placed on the possibilities of intensifying international scientific cooperation. The establishment of stronger ties between the Pilar Institute and relevant Spanish scientific and research institutions was discussed, especially in areas of common interest such as social sciences and humanities, demography and migration research.
The mutual willingness to develop joint projects, exchange researchers and knowledge, as well as participate in international research programs and European Union funds was emphasized. The possibilities of organizing joint workshops, conferences and scientific meetings were also discussed, which would further strengthen the visibility and influence of both parties in the European research area.
The meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain represents an important step towards strategic networking and long-term cooperation, with the aim of strengthening the scientific excellence and international recognition of the Pilar Institute.
