Activities

By establishing the Regional Center in Split, the Ivo Pilar Institute of Social Sciences has shown a lasting interest in the regional development of Croatia, in its Adriatic orientation and Mediterranean character. Accordingly, it is planned that one of the main activities of the Split center will be directed towards researching subjects of regional importance. Those related to Split and the Dalmatian coast, islands and hinterland. Likewise, given the interdependence of Dalmatia and neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Center’s activities are also focused on researching topics related to the Bosnian-Herzegovinian space, with a special interest in those topics that concern the Croatian ethnic component in that country. In addition to the above, the Split Center has been strongly focused on researching subjects in the fields of theology, sociology of religion, and bioethics since its establishment.

Projects

Since the foundation of the Split Regional Centre, its employees have been involved in a number of projects of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports (2007-2013):

  • Socio-religious map of Croatia
  • Religious communities in Croatia and their role in integration processes
  • Homeland War
  • Religious pluralism, postmodern religious movement and Croatian identity
  • Croatian identity and multiculturalism of the Mediterranean in the era of globalization
