From the Foreword, No. 1-2/2014.
In mid-2014, a new editorial board was appointed, the primary goal of which is to revive the journal that marked the most turbulent period in the history of the University of Mostar and to confirm it as strongly as possible as an internationally recognizable scientific and professional forum that will have a share in the global research process.
“The idea was also born that the area covered by Mostariensia could be expanded to include social sciences. There are several reasons for this. First of all, contributions that crossed the boundaries of the humanities have already been published under previous editorial boards. In addition, regardless of the mutual diversity and consistency of their own methodological approaches and research efforts, there is an undeniable historical and contemporary connection between humanistic and social scientific interests that share a common anthropological basis. This is especially evident in an era when there is an increasingly strong sense of confusion in value orientations, or when the noetic (factual) dimension prevails over the ethical (value) dimension. And what is a society without values, without that hotbed of strength and guarantee of a healthy future?
In this sense, the editorial board will be open to all contributions that pass competent evaluation, but will also take into account the promotion of ethics, universal human values, criticality, freedom of expression and creativity, which is the only true guarantee of academic and civilizational progress. With its own efforts and the efforts of its collaborators, it will also strive to nurture Croatian culture and promote it in the world. In this, the Ivo Pilar Institute of Social Sciences will certainly provide considerable assistance, as it is the co-publisher of the journal and whose leadership has expressed and implemented in the issue for 2014 its unreserved readiness for full cooperation. We are convinced that this synergy will bear abundant fruits.
In addition to the new editorial board, Mostariensia has also undergone some other significant changes. In addition to the editorial board, an (international) scientific council has been formed, the members of which are mostly recognized and proven experts in their field of activity. This body will be a reviewer base that will be strengthened from issue to issue by competent experts from the country and abroad. The visual identity is also new. The format has been changed, as has the cover. We hope that we have thus made a step forward in aesthetic terms.
We therefore invite all colleagues from the University of Mostar, as well as those from other higher education institutions and institutes from Bosnia and Herzegovina and countries in the region, to cooperate in our journal. Convinced that this cooperation will be mutually beneficial, we look forward to your contributions.”
