About the project

Basic information

Project description

Organize and conduct empirical (field) research in accordance with the goals and activities of the project. After conducting empirical research, approach data processing using quantitative and qualitative scientific methodology. The implementation of the project aims to scientifically investigate: the historical and demographic context, as well as the political and economic causes of the migration of Croats to Slovenia; the causes of permanent emigration from Croatia and remaining in the new (Slovenian) environment; the issue of early assimilation and rapid integration of Croats into Slovenian society. In addition, the determinants and characteristics of the social, cultural and national identity of Croats in Slovenia will be investigated; the causes and consequences of weak integration within the own Croatian community in Slovenia; reasons and consequences of unrecognized autochthony and non-recognition of Croats as a national minority in Slovenia; models and ways of learning the Croatian language within the family, as well as dominant ways of expressing the Croatian identity. The results and conclusions of the project will be combined in the final report (elaboration), which will be submitted to the Central State Office for Croats outside the Republic of Croatia and the Association of Croatian Societies in Slovenia. By applying qualitative and quantitative scientific methodology, the Croatian community in the Republic of Slovenia will be thoroughly studied through the assigned activities of the project so that its results and conclusions will improve the cooperation of the Croatian community as a national collectivity with the Croatian homeland institutions as well as with the institutions of the Republic of Slovenia.
