Analysis of data on playing games of chance and video games in the Republic of Croatia

Data on playing games of chance and video games (prevalence and frequency of playing and problematic playing) were collected on a large representative sample of citizens of the Republic of Croatia as part of a broader survey in 2023. Players of games of chance will be selected from the total sample and their involvement in playing video games will be analyzed, namely the prevalence and frequency of playing and problematic gaming and related sociodemographic characteristics. The trends of playing games of chance will be analyzed based on data from research on the general population of the Republic of Croatia from 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023, each of which was conducted on almost 5,000 participants. These data are extremely important for assessing the situation in the area of ​​problems related to playing games of chance, given that it is a phenomenon that causes significant consequences for the individual, family and community and can contribute to the planning of interventions within the framework of preventive and harm reduction programs, and in within the scope of socially responsible organization of games of chance.
