Igor Mikloušić, PhD, presented the DISINFO KLIMA Project on HRT1; Zagreb, 23/04/2026
Igor Mikloušić, PhD, appeared on April 23 in the HRT1 television program Kod nas doma, in the Science and Technology segment, where he discussed why people believe in extraordinary and scientifically unfounded claims
During the interview, he explained the psychological mechanisms behind belief in conspiracy theories, emphasizing the role of emotions, perceived threats, and distrust in institutions. Particular attention was given to climate change as an area in which disinformation spreads rapidly and can have significant social consequences.
The appearance also introduced the DISINFO KLIMA project, which experimentally examines how combinations of individual characteristics, such as personality traits, cognitive styles, and attitudes, influence susceptibility to climate change (mis)information. As part of the project, experimental materials simulating real social media disinformation content were developed in order to better understand their effects on attitudes and behavior.
The appearance on Croatian Radiotelevision was part of a broader effort to popularize science and bring research findings closer to the public, particularly in the context of the growing importance of combating disinformation and strengthening trust in scientific knowledge.
