Guest lecture by Mirko Petrić, MA, at the University of Zadar Zadar, 21/04/2026
On April 21, 2026, Mirko Petrić, MA, held a guest lecture on social inequalities and student lifestyles in Croatia at the Department of Sociology, University of Zadar. The lecture was given as part of the course on “Sociology of Croatian Society” by Associate Professor Sven Marcelić, PhD. Petrić’s talk, entitled “Social inequalities in Croatia and lifestyles of university students in Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik”, was based on two research projects of the Ivo Pilar Institute of Social Sciences
Its first part presented the results of the survey on social inequalities in cultural consumption, conducted as part of the Horizon 2020 project INVENT. The second part of the talk was based on the research of student lifestyles carried out within the NextGenderHr project.
The presentation also explained the multidimensional model of class analysis that served as a theoretical framework for empirical research. The example of changes in student lifestyles in the 21st century was used to discuss the historical changes in the mechanisms of generating inequality in Croatia in the post-socialist and post-transition periods.
In addition to the participants of the course, the lecture was also open to the interested public.
