Research assistant Matija Krizmanić presented at the Biennial Conference of the European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA); Poznań, 21-24/07/2026
Matija Krizmanić, research assistant at the Ivo Pilar Institute of Social Sciences presented his research as part of the project Changing gender relations in Croatia (NextGenderHR) at the biennial conference of the European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA). This year’s conference, titled Anthropology: Possibilities in a Polarized World, was held in Poznań, Poland, from 21 to 24 July 2026
As part of the panel, Polarisation in Feminist (Queer) Theory: Reflections on Epistemological Conundrums, he presented a paper entitled “Refusing the frame: ethnographic limits, queer representation, and feminist unease”.
The presentation discussed findings from an analysis of fieldnotes and a research diary produced during an ethnographic study of futures. It explored the possibilities and polarisations within decolonial theory, gender and sexuality studies through the concept of ontological collisions, examining the tensions that emerge when divergent ontological and epistemological frameworks encounter one another in ethnographic practice.
