Senior Research Assistant Dora Popović, PhD, and Research Assistant Marija Kostanić, researchers on the WORKMOBIL project, presented project results at international conferences in September 2026
Researchers on the Intra-European Youth Labour Migrations in the Context of Contemporary Career Theories (WORKMOBIL) research project, Dora Popović, PhD, and Marija Kostanić (project leader: Iva Šverko, PhD), participated in two international conferences in September 2026, where they presented their research findings
Dora Popović, PhD, participated in the Mediterranean Islands Conference, held from 16th to 19th September on the island of Vis, where she presented the study titled “Regional Differences in the Quality of Working Life in Croatia”.
The results showed that young workers in Croatia differ depending on the region in which they work. Despite a higher prevalence of seasonal work and fixed-term contracts, workers in Adriatic Croatia reported higher levels of quality of working life. These differences were particularly evident in perceived job security, opportunities for development, workplace relationships, and higher work engagement compared with workers from other Croatian regions.
Research Assistant Marija Kostanić participated in NICE (Network for Innovation in Career Guidance & Counselling in Europe) ACADEMY 2026: “Green Guidance: Interpretations and Implications”, held from 16th to 19th September in Athens, Greece, where she presented the study titled “Should We Stay or Should We Go? SUPERB Value Instrumentality Explaining Intentions to Work Abroad”.
The findings indicate that young people’s decisions about working abroad depend not only on what they value in their work, but, more importantly, on their own perceptions of whether these values can be attained in their own country.
