Igor Mikloušić, PhD, participated in the Weekend Media Festival; Rovinj, 25/09/2026
Igor Mikloušić, PhD, Senior Research Associate at the Pilar Institute, participated in the Weekend Media Festival in Rovinj with a talk entitled “m-AI Best Friend” (moj nAIbolji prijatelj), exploring the psychological and societal threats posed by artificial intelligence
He discussed AI’s effects on mental health, cognitive abilities and emotional attachment to chatbots, as well as the growing tendency to delegate decision-making and thinking to technology. He also presented findings from the PERSON project, which indicate that people perceive threats associated with artificial intelligence as a serious, distinct and highly consistent set of risks.
The presentation featured an innovative format in which artificial intelligence moderated the discussion, asking Mikloušić questions about its potential negative effects.
The talk attracted considerable audience interest and demonstrated how science communication can connect current research findings with issues that increasingly shape everyday life. The presentation raised questions about using emerging technology while preserving human autonomy, critical thinking, and independent problem-solving by combining scientific evidence with an AI-moderated discussion.
