Results of the NextGenderHr project presented at the European Sociological Association conference; Warsaw, 25-28/08/2026
Collaborators on the NextGenderHR project presented three papers at the 17th European Sociological Association (ESA) Conference, held from August 25 to 28, 2026, in Warsaw, Poland.
The 17th Conference of the European Sociological Association, held under the title “Strengthening Democracies: Social Action, Solidarity, and Sustainability,” brought together over three thousand participants who presented their papers across 38 different research networks.

Augustin Derado, PhD, presented findings obtained through qualitative interviews conducted as part of the project Changing Gender Relations in Croatia (NextGenderHR). His presentation, titled “Masculinities in Times of Democratic Uncertainty: Hybrid Neoconservatism and Ambivalent Progressivism among Young Men in Croatia”, was delivered as part of the session on masculinities organized by Research Network 33 (Women’s and Gender Studies).
The presentation co-authored by Iva Žunić, mag. soc., mag psych., Inga Tomić-Koludrović, PhD, and Mirko Petrić, M. Sc., was held in the session dedicated to the topics of work, care and everyday life. The title of the presentation was “Partner Relations in Post-transitional Croatia: Differences Between Gender Attitudes and Practices”. This session was also organized by Research Network 33.
Finally, in the session dedicated to research in the field of cultural stratification, Inga Tomić-Koludrović, PhD, and Mirko Petrić, M. Sc., held a presentation in co-authorship with the foreign collaborators of the NextGenderHR project Predrag Cvetičanin, PhD (University of Niš) and Adrian Leguina, PhD (Loughborough University). This session was organized by Research Network 07 (Sociology of Culture). The title of the presentation was “Catch Me If You Can – Changes in Class Structure, Values and Cultural Practices in Croatia and Serbia in the 21st century”. In this paper, data obtained through the NextGenderHr project were used for comparisons with data from earlier studies conducted in Croatia by the co-authors.
