Researchers of the NextGenderHR team presented three papers at the 6th International Multidisciplinary Conference MIC – VIS, held on the island of Vis from September 16 to 19, 2026. All three presentations are part of the qualitative research that is currently being carried out as part of NextGenderHR project
Matija Krizmanić presented a paper Between Gender and Nation: Contesting Imaginaries of Gendered Futures. The presentation presents the preliminary results of ongoing ethnographic research on conflicting social mobilizations that inscribe, produce and enact ideas about the futures of gender relations in public spaces.
Lynette Šikić-Mićanović, PhD, presented a paper titled Leisure in Professional Life: Gendered Meanings and Inequalities. This presentation explores how professionals in Croatia create, understand, and engage in leisure, with attention to gender differences in caregiving, household labour, and the quality of leisure time.
Augustin Derado, PhD, presented a paper titled Between Roots and Routes: Women’s Lives and Intergenerational Gendered Change on a Small Adriatic Island. Drawing on qualitative ethnographic research with two generations of women from the island of Prvić, the presentation analyzes intergenerational shifts in the division of labor, authority, and care practices, contrasting contemporary experiences with the traditional way of life of island women.
