Mateo Žanić, PhD, and assistant Marta Keglević, mag., gave a lecture to fourth-grade students of the III Gymnasium Osijek on the topic of “Migration and local communities”. The lecture was held as part of the implementation of the project Transformation of local communities in the Republic of Croatia. Global challenges and development potentials (LozaRH) funded by the European Union – NextGeneration EU (01/08-73/23-2519-11)
The aim of the lecture was to encourage students to reflect on the importance of local communities as well as to interpret the changes they face in contemporary circumstances. Particular attention was paid to the impact of migration on life in local communities. Data on migration processes in the Republic of Croatia were presented, as well as the results of research that dealt with the attitudes of Croatian citizens towards the immigration of foreign citizens. We would like to thank the teacher Zvonimir Parać for his cooperation in preparing and conducting the lecture.
