Organized by the Ministry of Demography and Immigration, the conference Croatia Connects: From the Croatian Diaspora to the Croatian Labour Market was held in Šibenik from 28 to 30 September 2026

The primary objective of the conference was to present examples of good practice, draw attention to the obstacles faced by potential returnees, and facilitate connections between members of the Croatian diaspora considering a return and the opportunities and measures available to support and facilitate both the decision to return and the process of reintegration into Croatian society and the labour market.
Representing the research team of the project Dynamics and Challenges of Migration, Re-emigration and Immigration in the Republic of Croatia, funded by the European Union under the NextGenerationEU instrument, the conference was attended by the project leader, Rebeka Mesarić Žabčić, PhD, and Dražen Živić, PhD, who participated in his capacity as Special Adviser to the Minister of Demography and Immigration.
