Book Growing Up in Digital Europe published by Springer Nature as part of the GUIDEPREP project
As part of the Growing Up in Digital Europe Preparation Phase (GUIDEPREP) project, the book Growing Up in Digital Europe: GUIDE’s Cross-National Longitudinal Research on Child Wellbeing has been published by the renowned international publisher Springer Nature
The GUIDEPREP project is laying the foundations for the first European longitudinal study of the well-being of children, young people, and families. The project is funded by Horizon Europe and brings together more than twenty European countries. The Pilar Institute is one of the project partners (head of the Pilar Institute team: Toni Babarović, PhD).
The book summarises the project’s key contributions to date. It provides an overview of a unique approach to researching child development in the digital world, with particular emphasis on the new opportunities and challenges brought about by digitalisation. Special attention is given to ethical issues related to research involving children and the use of digital data. In addition, the book describes child-centred research approaches and the development and harmonisation of questionnaires that enable comparisons of data across different countries.
Project collaborators are the authors of two chapters in the book: Developing a Cross-National, Longitudinal Questionnaire to Study Child Wellbeing (Toni Babarović, Eta Krpanec, Mirta Blažev, and Iva Černja Rajter) and Cognitive Assessment in Children (Iva Černja Rajter, Toni Babarović, and Ivan Dević).
