At the annual conference of the European Society for Empirical Legal Studies (ESELS), held in Ljubljana on 18-19 June 2026, Ines Sučić, PhD, presented the paper “An Analysis of Aggravating and Mitigating Factors in Drug Offenses: The Croatian Case” (co-authors: Ines Sučić, Katarina Sokić and Martina Barić)

The paper presented the connection between the number of aggravating and mitigating circumstances when committing a criminal offense and the length of a prison sentence, after controlling for socio-demographic characteristics and variables related to a criminal career.
The research was carried out as part of the institutional PRISCLIM project, which is financed by EU funds – NextGeneration EU.
