Caroline Hornstein Tomić, PhD, presented research results from We-ID project (Horizon Europe) at Lunch Talk in Brussels; Brussels, 12/05/2026
Representatives of EU institutions, the European Parliament, think tanks, and We-ID (Horizon EU) researchers came together during a Lunch Talk in Brussels to discuss the project’s preliminary findings and reflect on how research can better support policy priorities related to demographic change, migration, territorial inequalities, and democratic resilience
Caroline Hornstein-Tomić, PhD, shared key findings from extensive field research conducted in Work Package 6 of the We-ID project on integration efforts of migrants on local levels and demographic adaptation across Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Lithuania, and Scotland.
The discussion focused on how science-based evidence can help policymakers and practitioners address interconnected challenges such as ageing, labour shortages, regional decline, social trust, and integration, while also identifying next steps for stronger cooperation between researchers, policymakers, and local communities.
