Presentation of the book Začetnici industrije u Hrvatskoj židovskog podrijetla / Pioneers of Industry in Croatia of Jewish Origin by Ljiljana Dobrovšak, PhD; Zagreb, 19/05/2026
On May 19, 2026, the book by Ljiljana Dobrovšak, PhD, Founders of Industry in Croatia of Jewish Origin, published by the Jewish Religious Community BET ISRAEL in Croatia and STAJER-GRAF from Zagreb, was presented in the Multimedia Hall of the Ivo Pilar Institute of Social Sciences. The book was presented by Daniel Benko, Jasminka Domaš, Ivana Žebec Šilj, Marijana Rukavina Jerkić and the author Ljiljana Dobrovšak
Several articles about the book Pioneers of Industry in Croatia of Jewish Origin have already appeared in Croatian media outlets. In Express’s Bestbook Magazine (March 5, 2026), Antun Pavešković presented the book in an article titled “A Reminder of How Much Croatian Society Lost Through the Destruction Caused by the Ustaša Regime.” Romina Peritz presented the book in Jutarnji list (April 7, 2026) in the article “The Forgotten Beginnings of Paromlin and the Oil Factory.” Boris Beck also wrote about the book in Vijenac on April 23, 2026, in an article titled “A Treasury of Forgotten Stories.” In addition, Tamara Borić conducted an interview with the author, published in Nacional under the title “The Jews Started Industry Here; They Must Remain Part of Croatian Culture.”
