Ivana Hanzec Marković, PhD, external associate of the TEEN-WELL project Adolescent Well-being in Key Contexts, participated in the 3rd Conference of school psychologists Horizons of Strength, held from 19 to 21 February 2026 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb
In her presentation entitled “Life satisfaction of girls and boys: the importance of different life domains in early adolescence”, she pointed out that boys consistently express greater satisfaction with almost all domains over three years compared to girls at the transition from childhood to adolescence, with all children assessing satisfaction with school experiences and themselves as somewhat lower compared to other domains.
The presented results point to the importance of targeted support for the subjective well-being of children through the strengthening of satisfaction in those domains that are developmentally important to them, but less evaluated.
