An international scientific conference "SURVIVING IN POST-SOCIALISM: IMPLICATIONS FOR POLICY MAKERS" organised by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Zagreb and Maribor’s CePSS (Centre for the Study of Post-Socialist Societies) was held in Ljubljana on 25th and 26th November 2016.

Researchers from four countries of South Eastern Europe (Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina) and decision makers (policy makers) attended the conference. During the conference sessions, the results of recent scientific research were presented in thematic units that included economic, political and social trends in South Eastern European countries. The most important socio-economic practices and population strategies as well as the survival strategies of vulnerable social groups from the four countries were also analysed.

Apart from research sessions, the joint participation of scientists and decision-makers in panels was also organised, during which the role of political actors in the development of South-Eastern European countries was discussed. The possibilities for the development and implementation of adequate social policies in light of the presented research findings were also discussed

Two researchers from the Institute of Social Sciences Ivo Pilar attended this conference: Lynette Šikić-Mićanović from Zagreb and Augustin Derado from Split.
